A dog from Stafford County, Virginia finally brings her home after not receiving any inquiries since November 2022, thanks to a viral Facebook post.
According to the Stafford County Animal Shelter, Sky is a 3-year-old lab/pit mix and was released to the shelter in November of last year. She is the only longtime resident of the shelter who has not yet found a family.
And the shelter believes the reason Sky is being neglected is because she can’t be with other dogs at home.
So on February 27, the Stafford County Animal Shelter in Virginia posted a desperate plea on Facebook to find a family in Sky.
The post says, “Sky hasn’t received ONE request since joining us in November last year. No one sent an email. No one called about him. No one asks to visit him. We’ve posted it several times… still nothing.
The post then went viral, amassing more than 15,000 reactions and 68,000 shares on Facebook, after 7 News’ Steve Rudin gave Sky a shout out on air.
Stafford County Animal Shelter Captain Joe Bice said: “The phone hasn’t stopped ringing all morning, a ton of messages and so many we can’t even answer them.”
And then on the morning of February 28, Donna Crowder, who was 2 hours away, went to the shelter, and was waiting to adopt Sky. “We wanted to get information and see if she was still there this morning,” said Crowder.
Crowder also reveals, “We were looking for a dog and when they said she was good with kids I said ‘ok, I’ll take the ride’.”
Stafford County Animal Shelter then shared the good news on Facebook and explained, “She [Sky] needed a home without any other animals and a fenced backyard for her safety.
